Event: Roald Dahl Day Location: Changing Hands Bookstore, 6428 South McClintock Drive Tempe, AZ 85283 Time: 11AM Cost: Ages: Description: Changing Hands presents an afternoon of scrumdiddllyumptious activities to celebrate the 93rd birthday of Roald Dahl, the beloved creator of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach, Matilda, The Witches, and more. We'll honor Dahl with fun activities like our Fizzwiggling First Lines Quiz, Brain-Boggling Bookplates, Gigantuous Dahl character contest, and Wonka Wisdom games. Scottsdale, AZ 85255-8600 Time: 11:00 AM - 11:30 AM Cost: Ages: Ages 0 - 24 months Description: An early literacy program that uses rhymes and songs to help children get ready to read. All storytimes are designed for parents/caregivers to enjoy together. (30 min) Limit 15 children. Please see a staff person 30 minutes prior to the start of the storytime to receive a number which will be your child’s registration. Event: Dragon Day and Brisingr Release Party Location: Changing Hands Bookstore, 6428 South McClintock Drive Tempe, AZ 85283 Time: 2pm Cost: FREE Ages: Description: Celebrate the release of the third book in the bestselling Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini, Brisingr, with a day dedicated to dangerous dragons and swashbuckling swords! Following the colossal battle against the Empire's warriors on the Burning Plains, Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have narrowly escaped with their lives. Still there is more at hand for the Rider and his dragon, as Eragon finds himself bound by a tangle of promises he may not be able to keep. Animal specialists from the Phoenix Zoo visit with a Bearded Dragon, while an artist decorates kids' faces with scaly, fire-breathing fun! More details TBA.

Ages: All ages Description: Join park staff for a guided nature walk through Veterans Oasis Park! Discover nature in your own neighborhood as you explore the hilltop viewing areas, wet-land habitats, and the shores of the urban fishing lake. Each walk will feature different routes, themes, and activities. This is a perfect program for the entire family! This program is free, but pre-registration is required and space is limited. Event: Critter Keeper Location: The Phoenix Zoo Time: 12:00 PM Cost: Non-member Price: $55.00 Members Price: $36.00 Ages: 6 to 8 years Description: Critter Keeper is a special two-hour program for children ages 6- 8 years old. During this program children will participate in ALL aspects of animal care including: cleaning and rearranging enclosures, measuring and distributing animal diets and preparing behavioral enrichment for animals. New for this year, Critter Keepers will be expanding their duties to include activities on Harmony Farm, the Children’s Trail AND the exciting, interesting and wild Arizona Trail! Class sizes are small so register early for this special program!
